"Screw this! Whats the point of being a Nintendo Lawyer if Nintendo doesnt even believe in me!!!"
*Turns back into Funky Kong*
"Im gonna go and dance to funky music and sell weapons instead."

—Lawyer Kong after being defeated by the SMG4's Gang, SMG4: War Of The Fat Italians 2022

Funky Kong is an ape (though he is also a monkey according to himself) from the Donkey Kong series and recurring character in the SMG4 series. As Lawyer Kong, he serves as the main antagonist of The Lawsuit Arc.

He is the former corrupt lawyer working on behalf of a stricter and progressively more draconian Nintendo, aiming to kick SMG4 and all of the series' influence and aspects out in order to restore the SMG4verse's iteration of Mushroom Kingdom to its original status as Nintendo's Mushroom Kingdom in order for make it possible for his bosses in Nintendo to make more games in peace.

In the aftermath of the SMG4 v. Nintendo lawsuit, Lawyer Kong is eventually defeated and decided to give up his lawyer job and goes back to his old ways of playing funky music and selling weapons.

Appearance[]

In his normal appearance, he wears a white tank top, red bandana, and ripped shorts. As Lawyer Kong, he resembles his normal self, but with a Nintendo head bandana and a small gray top hat on his head, matched with an unbuttoned short-sleeved suit (with a black belt and yellow buckle without the trousers) with two buttons but still including the short-sleeved white shirt and black tie. Lawyer Kong has 8 fingers and toes, simular to Chunky Kong.

Personality[]

Although Lawyer Kong claimed to want to restore the Mushroom Kingdom after SMG4's influence had corrupted its inhabitants, notably Mario, he held a callous disregard for all the non-Nintendo characters such as Meggy, referring to them as a 'disease' and aimed to segregate them from the Nintendo characters. His lack of empathy is also clear when the DMCA is signed as he takes pleasure in seeing the majority of the SMG4 cast perish.

As an oppressive and crooked attorney, Lawyer Kong is not hesitant to resort to underhanded methods to keep Mario and Nintendo in order, such as relying on ninja minions, Inkopolis' police force and even forcibly knocking Meggy's documents away from her to prevent her from disputing the Super DMCA in time.

Criminal Record / Law Violations[]

As Lawyer Kong, despite being a lawyer, he violated some laws in order to get rid of almost every non-Nintendo character/IP, including SMG4 and his influence. However, all of these charges may have been dropped after he redeemed himself as Funky Kong following his defeat.

  • Abuse of Office: He has abused his position to destroy many people's happy lives who were ultimately doing nothing illegal.
  • Attorney's Incompetence: He was so incompetent that he didn't want to give SMG4 a chance to survive and he didn't let Meggy finish speaking so she could dispute the Super DMCA.
  • Attempted Genocide: Attempted to kill all non-Nintendo characters using the Super DMCA.
  • Attempted Omnicide: As Judge Kirby begins the trial, Lawyer Kong plans to shut down SMG4's Channel permanently if he wins, even if it means it could potentially wipe out the entire universe with it. He would've succeeded if SMG4 and his gang haven't won.

Trivia[]

  • His role seems to be inspired from O'Brien, the main antagonist from George Orwell's British dystopian science fiction novel, 1984.
  • He's the third person who's against SMG4 and his channel, the first being SMG3 who used to want to copy or steal SMG4's content and the second being Susan Wojcicki, who demonetized SMG4's videos. However, Lawyer Kong needed the help of his employer, Shigeru Miyamoto.
  • Lawyer Kong is the second arc villain to have succeeded in their goal at some point, the first was SMG3 in the The YouTube Arc.
  • Lawyer Kong is the fifth arc villain to be redeemed, the first being Waluigi in the Waluigi Arc, the second being Bob in the Rapper Bob Arc, the third being Princess Peach in the first part of The Anime Arc, and SMG3 during The SMG4 Cosmology Lore.
  • As Lawyer Kong, he shares a few similarities to Bradford Buzzard from Ducktales. Both are against their series' respective main characters, for their main aspects (Scrooge McDuck because of his adventures for Bradford, SMG4 because of his use of Mario for Lawyer Kong.) Both also believe these things are bad (Bradford believed that adventures cause chaos, while Lawyer Kong wanted SMG4 sued for using Mario). Both separated the main character from there friends to prevent them from moving forward (Bradford tricks Della into going to the moon in order to break Scrooge’s spirit, Lawyer Kong uses the firewall to block out SMG4 and Meggy order to have the Mario games made without any interruption), They had to use a magic sheet of paper in their attempts to end the fun (the Papyrus of Binding for Bradford to stop Scrooge from adventuring, the Super DMCA for Lawyer Kong to terminate all the non-nintendo characters including SMG4), and claimed that they were doing this for good intentions, whilst almost succeeding in their plans but failed due to small details they missed (Lawyer Kong failed because Meggy was able to hide the Parody contract in Mario's hat to deliver to Kirby while Bradford Buzzard failed due to Scrooge McDuck pointing out a loophole thus breaking the Papyrus of Binding). Both are also not killed.
    • However, a major difference they have is that while Lawyer Kong gave up and turns back into Funky voluntarily, Bradford is forcibly turned into a regular bird for his actions.
  • Throughout the entire Lawsuit Arc, Lawyer Kong has likely committed more real life crimes than anyone else did throughout the entire arc. The full list of his crimes throughout the Lawsuit Arc is in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTHX0HsXUkc
