The God Box was an extremely pivotal antagonist in the SMG4 series, due to being the overarching antagonist and catalyst behind the events of The SMG4 Cosmology Lore.
It was a mysterious object located in The Great Beyond and was the religious icon of the Box Club's worship. It served as the central plot device for the Revelations Arc, as well as the SMG4 Cosmology Lore and the series as a whole due it being the source behind the corruption of memes and what led to the creation of the guardian-turned-virus Niles, granting him the power to assimilate others such as SMG0 and Axol.
Despite being known by multiple sources, nobody truly understood what the God Box was or why it existed. Some such as the Box Club believed it to hold unlimited power while others like SMG1 and SMG2 feared the box and saw it as a bringer of evil and destruction that could eradicate the universe.
In the SMG4 Movie: REVELATIONS, the God Box was forced opened by Niles after he possessed Melony in order to use her to reach the box and find SMG0, causing its power to spill out and threatened to destroy Mario's universe; in order to prevent this, Mario and the Super Meme Guardians followed after the possessed Melony to close the God Box and bring her home.
SMG1 and SMG2 tried to close the box, only to realize that it was impossible and that the only way to stop it from annihilating everything was to destroy it by using a ultracharged meme energy bomb that caused the God Box to begin falling apart from the inside out as Niles attempted to drag Mario and the others down into the dying God Box with him. He would have succeeded had it not been for the intervention and self-sacrifice of SMG0 to stop him, just as the God Box was incinerated in a massive, final explosion.

Appearance[]
The God Box was a massive black rectangular box with a base and red outline. It had a symbol in the middle, comprising the number "0" in the middle of a square inside another square. Inside of the box itself was a dark chasm containing anti-memes and pieces of corrupted universes that were possibly destroyed by Niles in his Eldritch SMG0 form. In real life, however, it's simply a cardboard box with a similar but simplified symbol drawn on the front with black marker. This is where Luke keeps his "broken PC stuff", specifically hard drives that contain old memes (anti-memes) and corrupted games (destroyed universes).
History[]
Pre-series[]
Several years ago, sometime before the events of the first episode, SMG0 and Fred were attacked by the memes after they began to corrupt until SMG0's Guardian Pod took him to the God Box. He prayed to the God Box to fix his universe, and that was when he met Niles, who was born from the box itself.
Together with his new friend, SMG0 and Niles created the Internet Graveyard to cleanse the corrupted memes and set things right in their universe again. Despite enjoying his life with his partner and avatar, Niles began to feel something was wrong as he began seeing visions of a mutated version of himself with his eye and arm both appearing corrupted. Suddenly, images of the God Box begin flashing in his mind's eye as its corruption begins to infect him and he uses SMG0's Guardian Pod to go confront his creator, demanding to know what was wrong with him.
However, the God Box's corruption over Niles only worsens as his mind suddenly becomes warped and he begins to believe that to fix himself, he must make not only himself, but his entire universe "perfect" and thus asks the box how to accomplish this. Despite it not saying anything, Niles reacts to it as if it replies, to which he agrees with whatever it told him but says that he'll need more power to pull it off, to which the box responds by granting him more power, which serves to only poison him further as he begins to show signs of psychopathy.
Using this new power, Niles somehow managed to open a rift between their universe and the God Box with multiple, powerful beams being discharged everywhere. Fred was caught in the blast, either by accident or intentionally by Niles who is corrupted by the God Box, and he dies as a result, hence their universe was dying with him. Horrified by his avatar's doom, SMG0 panics before Niles appears before him with his eye glowing white from the box's power, however he seems shocked to find out that Fred was killed but tries to assure SMG0 that they can still fix it by joining forces as the box's corruption sets back into him.
Anxious of his partner's behavior, SMG0 suddenly sees the God Box looking down at him through the rift with its "eye" glowing red which makes him feel even more uneasy as Niles suddenly grabs him from behind and grabs him. SMG0 begs Niles to stop, claiming they can still fix things and Niles assures him that they are going to fix things together, as the slashed zero appears in his eye as the God Box's corruption takes full effect over him as he begins laughing psychotically as the God Box strikes both of the guardians with its power as SMG0 screams out in pain and terror...
...after the dust settles, Niles and SMG0 are nowhere to be found as a single being remains due to the result of the God Box forcing the two to fuse into a single form that is corrupted by its power: a corrupted monster with attributes of both SMG0 and Niles with its own horrific features, this creature being known as Eldritch SMG0, but with Niles being the one with conscious control while SMG0 is unconscious within and imprisoned.
SMG4: Mario Goes To College[]
The Box Club leader mentions multiple times that the club worships a "god box", although nothing was really known about it other than the leader saying that when it is opened, 'judgement day' would descend and take them to a 'new paradise'.
SMG4: Mario and The God Box[]
The Box Club tried to summon the God Box and show their appreciation by giving it sacrifices. They got Mario to gather offerings for them by offering Mario spaghetti as a reward. Melony and the SMGs came to confront the club after Mario kidnapped many students at Omnia Academy under the Box Club's orders, and after SMG1 & SMG2 hear the leader mention the God Box, they were shocked. Those two explained that there was a legend of a divine box in 'the great beyond' that contains the mysterious of the universe and opening it will unleash things beyond anyone's understanding and end the world as they know it. On the contrary, the Box Club leader believed it contains unlimited power for whoever opened it. SMG3 liked the idea of having infinite power.
SMG4: Absolute Betrayal[]
Niles, who was controlling Melony in her sleep, secretly aided the Box Club. The Club kidnapped Melony and lured the gang into a trap. The Box Club Leader used the Meme Guardians' meme converting ability by force to transmute the Box Club members into meme energy to create a spaceship so that he could fly to the God Box via a portal to The Great Beyond. Eventually, Niles, who controlled Melony's Fierce Deity power, opened the portal, and the Box Club Leader and Melony boarded the spaceship and flew through the portal towards the God Box, leaving everybody else freaked out.

SMG4 Movie: REVELATIONS[]
At the beginning of the film, Niles, who was in possession of Melony, opened the God Box, thus causing numerous meteors to rain down on the Mushroom Kingdom. It was revealed that the God Box is, in real life, Luke's box of broken computer stuff containing the games and memes that were corrupted by Zero years ago in The Great Beyond. It is revealed in SMG0's flashback that the God Box created Niles to help SMG0 and his avatar Fred fix their universe, only for the creation to turn evil as a result of his perfectionistic tendencies. In the movie, SMG3, SMG4, and Mario went inside the God Box using their own Guardian Pods to save Melony from Niles, while SMG1 and SMG2 stayed behind to try to close the box, but to no avail. Eventually, unable to close the box, SMG1 and SMG2 decided to create a bomb using meme energy, with SMG3, SMG4, Mario, and Melony narrowly escaping the box before its destruction, finally ending the cycle of agony and destruction that it wrought upon the Super Meme Guardians and their worlds for so many years. Following this, the God Box was last seen on fire in the real world as Luke kicks it away and remarked that he didn't need it anymore.
Power[]
The God Box is the most powerful entity in the SMG4 series, despite its shortlived appearance, due to being the catalyst behind The SMG4 Cosmology Lore and the series as a whole, as it was the creator of Niles and granted him the powers of a virus in order to assimilate other beings and mutate them into viruses, resulting in Niles taking on the forms of both Eldritch SMG0 and Eldritch Ax0l.
The source of its power is the destroyed, corrupted and incomplete universes, as well as the irreversibly corrupted Anti-Memes that make up its power in the form of a Corrupt Multiverse existing as a sort of dark ocean within its depths and the broken pieces of universes floating through it similar to islands. This corrupted energy is more powerful than pure meme energy but at the price of its extremely volatile instability, being able to infect the mind of any Super Meme Guardian that attempts to transmute this energy for their own use.
This power is so raw and potent that merely opening the God Box will cause its power to expel uncontrollably and physical contact alone with its dark essence can empower any being that touches it. However, unless they're capable of handling such raw power, the strain will destroy them from the inside-out, as demonstrated by the Box Club Leader who jumped headfirst into the box after it was opened by Niles and felt enormous might being imbued into him but he quickly realized it was too much power for him and despite his pleas to stop, he was incinerated and destroyed at a fundamental level where nothing was left of him afterwards.
Its power is so vast that it's the only thing that surpasses both Niles (as Eldritch SMG0/Ax0l) and Melony (as the Fierce Deity), the two most powerful characters in the series due to both of them being considered gods and were nearly equal to each other but with the former holding an advantage over the latter in terms of raw power.
Despite its godly power, the God Box is not infallable, as it was ultimately destroyed by SMG1 and SMG2 using an ultracharged meme energy bomb in order to stop its unstable power from leaking out any further and destroying Mario's universe in the process. Although the box wasn't instantly destroyed, it only had minutes left before the chain reaction caused a final explosion that destroyed it and Eldritch SMG0, as well as all of the broken universes and anti-memes residing within, ultimately annihilating the source of such corruptive power.
The Inner Domain of the God Box[]
The true power of the God Box lies within: a dark void of corrupted memes and broken universe fragments that float through it like outer space. After the collapse of their universe, the memes and what is left of their home are sent into the depths of the box itself and once there, reach the final stage of their corruption and becomes Anti-Memes, a more powerful and dangerous version of corrupted memes that can't be returned to normal anymore once they transform into these chaotic beings. These memes are the true source of the God Box's corruption as their combined corruptive energy is what gives the entity its ungodly power - enough that it could create a Super Meme Guardian on its own and even grant it the powers of a virus or at worst, fuse them with another SMG to create a godly virus entity.

- The God Box features a "0" one the front pattern, which is slightly different from the box club logo, which had an "O" on it.
- This theory is backed up by SMG1 and SMG2 both knowing of its existence and express deep shock and concern of its potential appearance.
- However, it has been revealed that the God Box actually has connections to Niles, as it has created him at the request of SMG0.
- It is the thirteenth character whose perma-death was taken seriously after Clone Mario, Desti, Francis, Greg The Alien, Spudnick, Auri Bori, Axol, Box Club Leader, Fred, Terrance, SMG0 and Niles.
- The God Box and the unimaginable horrors that it would unleash, may be a clear reference to Pandora's Box, since when it is opened it unleashes all the evils of the world.
- The SMG4 channel banner was changed to show the God Box slowly opening after it was first seen in SMG4: Mario and The God Box.
- This hints that the Revelations Arc was underway, as channel banner changes only tend to occur during new arcs or when a new Glitch Production show releases.
- This is supported by the fact that many recent SMG4 episodes have been focused around Melony, the Fierce Deity and Omnia Academy, and original character, Box Club Leader, has been introduced.
- After the Revelations Movie trailer, the channel banner was changed again to show the God Box unleashing the horrors contained within.

- Both the Box Club Leader and SMG1 and SMG2's viewpoints of the God Box turn out to be true as it caused a calamity to descend upon Mario's universe when it was forced open by Niles but it can also offer unfathomable power, which was offered via either physical contact or anti-meme energy in the case of the Super Meme Guardians, but this power is extremely unstable and dangerous.
- Although the God Box was the root of all the tragedies that have occured as a result of Niles, the consciousness of Eldritch SMG0 and Eldritch Ax0l, its actual malevolence is debatable as its motives are a complete mystery seeing as it helped both SMG0 (in good ways) and Niles (in evil ways), as if responding indiscriminantly with no comprehension of good or evil.
- Following the Destruction of Peach's Castle, fans began to believe that the God Box may have survived and was the source behind Mr. Puzzles since he was the one who gave the The Mysterious Keyboard to SMG4 that ended up spawning the Demonic Goop that destroyed the castle, also due to it's similarities to Niles due to both being an eldritch creature with an emphasis on eye-themed horror. However, it was revealed during the SMG4 Movie: PUZZLEVISION that Mr. Puzzles was simply someone who was obsessed with television and wanting to create his own popular television service, before he was defeated by SMG4's Gang. While it's still not exactly clear how or why he has such strange power, his defeat seems to suggest that there never was a connection and that the shared eldritch aesthetic was simply a coincidence. However, with the revelation that this strange power is directly connected with the Demonic Goop in War Of The Fat Italians 2024, then that might also suggest that it ain't just a mere coincidence.
