This is the transcript for META RUNNER - Season 1 Episode 7: No Clip.
Scene 1[]
(Everyone has spawned in the world of Tempest. Tari is trying to test her fire powers on some dummies. Theo is shooting lasers out of his fingers while he runs up to her.)
Theo: Ha-ha! Yeah! Put 'em up, Tari!
Tari: WOAH! (Her getting startled has caused her to accidentally toss her fireball into the air, and hurling towards Masa and Lamar.) Guys! Watch out!
(Masa manages to get out of the way, but Lamar just stands there, ready to face his ruin.)
Lamar: Oh, okay... (The fireball hits him.) Guha!
Tari: AHH!
Theo: He dead.
Tari: Oh my gosh! Sorry... I'm so sorry!
Lamar: (Respawns right behind her) Nah, it's all good! Ehhehehehe.
Masa: I thought that was on purpose... I would've been impressed. (Tari giggles.) Sofia, start the walkthrough. Let's get this show on the road!
Sofia: (Booming voice) Hello, Tari!
Tari: Huh?
Sofia: This is GOD!
Theo: Hiya, God!
Masa: (In the real world) Sofia...
Sofia: (Giggles like a child) Sorry. Couldn't resist! (Turns back to the game) Ahem... Tari and Theo... Welcome to Tempest! The magical battle royale game that will really blow you away! And I mean literally folks. If you haven't noticed yet, you are already in the area aptly named "The Mountain", where you and a hundred other teams will fight to the death!
Theo: Fight to the death?! (Shoots lasers out of his fingers) BRING IT ON! (Giggles) PEW PEW PEW PEW!
Lamar: (Looking concerned) ...Should I be concerned?
Sofia: Spell Books are scattered throughout the mountain which will give you magical abilities to fight your opponents and get around. The last one standing wins.
Tari: Sooo, get Spells, blast people. Sounds simple enough.
Masa: Hm. It's a lot more complicated than that.
Tari: (Sighs in disappointment) I had a feeling you'd say that...
Masa: (In the real world) Sofia?
Sofia: Yup, on it.
(Sofia begins typing, which spawns several Spell Books in the game.)
Tari: WOAH!
Theo: Aww, books? No one said there'd be reading...
(Masa grabs a Spell Book and spawns a purple-black glowing orb.)
Masa: There are dozens of Spells in Tempest, and each one has its own unique quirks and methods. If you want to last more than five minutes in this game, you're gonna have to learn them all.
(Masa tosses the orb into the air and kicks it, sending it flying to the top of a cliff, where it explodes.)
Tari: Uhh, okay.
Lamar: Oh, don't worry about old Doom-and-Gloom, Tari. These spells can be a lot of fun! Here, Check this out. Hehehehe...
(He grabs a Spell Book and thrusts down towards the ground, which forces him up into the air. He thrusts to the side, which sends him flying again, this time he stops on top of the cliff.)
Tari: WOAHH! That DOES look like fun!
Lamar: (From far off) THIS IS ONE OF THE FASTEST WAYS TO MOVE AROUND!
Theo: Oh! I want to try!
Masa: Theo! Wait!
(Theo, either not listening or not caring to listen, grabs a Spell Book.)
Theo: Up, up, and away! (He spawns a rock underneath him, which shoots him up into the air.)
Theo: (Flying off) Weeeeeeeee! Ahahahaha! Weeeee!
(Theo has pretty much died. Then he respawns.)
Theo: Crackerjack! (Tries to get another Spell Book) Let's do that again!
Tari: (Grabs him by his hat) Oh, no you don't!
Masa: Theo, your job is to stay near us and protect Tari, Think you can handle that?
Theo: (Shoots lasers wildly like a cowboy) YEAAAAAAAH!
Tari: Then, I guess (Drops Theo) the next big thing is to learn this glitch, right?
Masa: (Grabs a Spell Book) Correct, Use this Wind Burst Spell and launch yourself into the air.
Tari: Uh… okay. (Tries to work the Spell) How'd you do this again, Lamar?
Lamar: Oh, just press the A button.
Tari: What?! I don't have an A button!
Lamar: Um… Say the magic word?
Tari: (Is suddenly shot into the air) WAAAAAA...!
Lamar: Oh, well, never mind...
(Tari is screaming while soaring through the air.)
Sofia: Okay, good! Now brace yourself!
Tari: HUH? BRACE MYSELF FOR WHA- (She screams as she suddenly starts to go down. She lands with such a force that the game starts glitching out.)
Theo: (Garbled) Eh, seen it before. I think I know what comes next.
Scene 2[]
(Tari is back in the real world. She looks at her surroundings.)
Tari: What just happened?!
Theo: (Spawns next to her) Tari! You went through the floor!
Tari: Huh?!
Sofia: That's a game-breaking glitch we call the "Deep Mountain Clip". Basically, if you hit the floor at the right angle and speed, you'll go through the level. And if you do this during the competition, TAS Corp servers will go down with it and I'll be able to hack right in!
Theo: Is that all? That's so easy! Tari, all you gotta do is go fast.
Masa: That was simple because we were in Training Mode. No one was attacking you and Sofia could alter your speed and angle. It'll be nothing like that in the tournament.
Tari: Yeah, that sounds about right. Well, I'm ready to do this properly, regardless.
Sofia: Okay, then! Let's take it from the top.
(Back in the game...)
Sofia: For this glitch to even be remotely possible, you need to head to the top of the Mountain.
Tari: What?! The top?
Sofia: Don't worry. Just use that Wind Burst Spell you have and focus on scaling the mountain. Theo is already waiting up there for you!
Tari: Oh man... (Sigh) I'll try! (She tries again, this time she gets it to work. She screams as she is shot into the air.)
Lamar: Do you... think she'll learn this glitch in time?
Masa: I-I really hope so.
(Lamar and Masa spawn in the game, next to Theo.)
Theo: Oh, hey guys. Where's Tari?
(At that moment, Tari lands front first beside them.)
Theo: Oh. There you are!
Tari: Ow...
Sofia: Great work! Now, jump off!
Tari: What?! I just got here!
Masa: Jumping off here is the only way to get enough speed to clip through the floor.
Sofia: The Wind Burst Spell should be enough to propel you right off.
Tari: (Gets up) Ugh, okay...
(She activates Wind Burst again.)
Tari: What do I do now?! SOFIA?!
Lamar: (In the real world) Hey guys, it's a shooting S-TARI! (Only Lamar finds that funny.) Heh heh...
Sofia: Great! Now, keep firing the Wind Burst Spell on your way down to gain momentum.
(Tari fires again.)
Sofia: 55 km/h and 36° are the numbers you want to hit, Tari!
Tari: WHAT IF I DON'T GET THE RIGHT ANGL- (SMACK!) Oof! (She dies.)
Sofia: Oooooh...
(Tari respawns.)
Theo: Tari! Are you okay?
Tari: Yeah, I'm fine.
Lamar: You can see why this is hard, huh? When the competition's on, you're gonna have people attacking you too...
Tari: Grr! Okay, okay. Enter speed and angle of 55 km/h and 36°, right? I can do that.
Masa: Try and use that "Meta Runner Vision" of yours. It should help with getting the right trajectory.
Tari: Oh! Right! (She takes a deep breath. Analysis shows her silhouette form leaping off the cliff.) Oh! (Chuckles)
(She activates Wind Burst again as she flies off the cliff.)
Tari: You can do it, Tari!
(She tries to get the positioning right, but fails, and she lands smack dab on the ground below. She respawns next to Lamar and Masa.)
Lamar: Yeah, you want to take a quick break? Load up some Crunchy Roll or something?
(Tari tries again. And again. And again. And again. Failing each and every time.)
Tari: (Muffled) That one hurt. (Dies)
Scene 3[]
(Flashback. Belle is playing Ultra Jump Mania. She is trying to execute the coconut burst jump glitch, but fails.)
Belle: God damn it! (She restarts.)
(Her friend, Lucinia, walks in.)
Lucinia: Hey... Everything okay in here?
Belle: Come on! Boost! BOOST!
Lucinia: Oh, just the usual.
Belle: Go away, Lucinia, now is not the time.
Lucinia: Come on, I know the Games Done Fast Comp is tomorrow, but staying up till 3:00 AM is not going to do you any good.
Belle: NO! ARGH! GOD DAMNIT! (Throws controller)
Lucinia: Hey, hey, hey, come on, Belle... get some sleep. You'll perform so much better rested up.
Belle: But I haven't even remotely gotten close to the World Record today, and everyone's expecting me to claim the title back tomorrow.
Lucinia: You. Will. Be. Fine. Stressing out now will only make you lose focus. Trust me on this one.
Belle: Yeah, I guess...
Lucinia: And besides, you're one of the most talented speedrunners I know. Hell, you're a lot better than me, that's for sure.
Belle: You really know what to say, don't you?
(She goes to lay down on her bed.)
Belle: There. I'm resting now. Happy?
Lucinia: (Chuckles) Yeah. Good luck tomorrow. Then again, you've never needed luck.
Belle: You got that right!
Lucks (VO): You seem concerned, Belle...
(Flashback ends. Belle is back in the present time. Lucks doesn't get a response from her.)
Lucks: Belle?
Belle: What does that blue head scrub have to do with Lucinia's death? And what the hell is Project Blue, anyway?
Lucks: I've had a search in our company database. There's been no record at all of Tari or Project Blue. If you want answers, then you're going to have to go find Tari.
(Belle leaves the UJM game on Lucks' desk and leaves. Lucks, having wasted time trying to gather info on Tari and Project Blue only to reach a dead end, decides to call it a day. He cleans the computer screen of the documents that were on it. He picks up a tablet that says "Bioware Encryption: Enabled", ponders for a second, then tosses it into a drawer, which houses a few papers and a revolver. He closes the drawer as the screen goes black.)
Scene 4[]
(Back in MD-5 HQ, Lamar is snoozing with his waifu, Satsuki-chan. Sofia is gathering the empty cups and ramen bowls. Masa is sitting on the couch pondering. In the game, he and Theo are standing around when Tari respawns next to them.)
Tari: This... this is too hard!
Masa: Keep practicing, you'll get it soon. I know you will.
Tari: It's no use! I tried this hundreds of times already and I don't feel any closer!
Theo: Tari... You can do this. You just have to believe. You know... beliiiiiiieeeeeve...
Tari: Okay, let's go again.
(She walks to the edge of the cliff. After a long, deep breath, she activates Wind Burst and leaps high into the air. She starts to head back down, while beautifully swerving. As she gets ready to land, she finally lands the perfect position to pull off the glitch. When she lands, the force from the landing causes the game to glitch out.)
Tari: (Back in the real world) (Gasps) I-I DID IT!
Lamar: (Wakes up) Huh-huh-huh-wha?
Tari: OH MY GOSH! I DID IIIIIT!
Sofia: I knew it! I knew you could do it! Whoo!
Theo: Yeah! (Glitches) Tari!
Lamar: Whoo! Let's celebrate! Sake on me!
Masa: No. You're only going to have one shot at this in the competition. Not to mention other players attacking you while you're doing it. And we haven't even touched on combat yet. You need to get back in there and do it again. We need you to get this.
Tari: Hmm... Fine...
Sofia: Don't worry, Tari, you did it once, you can do it again.
Lamar: We're gonna train you up too, little man. Gonna need all that help you can to pull this off.
Theo: Yeah! We'll be a four-man death squad!
(Credits roll.)
