Mario Drinks Water is the first episode of Season 15 of the SMG4 series, the six hundred and ninety-fourth within the SMG4 series, and the nine hundred and sixteenth video overall to be uploaded on the SMG4 channel.

Synopsis[]
Mario's thirsty and needs to hydratee 💦 but somehow the world is completely out of water!
Plot[]
SMG4 is happily walking over to the kitchen, but he is treated to a shock when he opens the door; out comes an avalanche of spaghetti. He swims through the spaghetti and upon entering the kitchen, he is even more shocked to see an anthropomorphic spaghetti tied up. Looking at the corner, he sees Mario, eating lots of spaghetti. SMG4 asks Mario what he is doing, and he says that as part of his New Year's resolution, he is attempting to eat a spaghetti-only diet without water for a full month. SMG4 isn't having any of it, preaching the importance of staying hydrated. Mario clearly doesn't listen, and eats up the anthropomorphic spaghetti, claiming what doesn't kill him makes him stronger. However, he is proven otherwise, when the spaghetti he ate asks if he can go on for so long without water, before giving him a blocked throat from the inside out. Not wanting to drink water, Mario instead gets some spicy sauce from the fridge and drinks it up, effectively blowing up the spaghetti in his stomach, solving the problem. SMG4 is still not having any of it, even after learning that Mario hasn't drank for ten hours, and demands Mario to drink water, giving a bottle of it. Mario once again drinks the spicy sauce, breathing fire onto SMG4, and then telling him he'll give a hundred dollars to f**k off.
Seeing that he has no other option, SMG4 decides to summon someone who can set Mario straight, being Fuego the Water Bottle. Mario is understandably panicked, and tries to call the cops, only to be stopped by Fuego, who says that he will use subliminal messaging by entering Mario's mind to make him stay hydrated. Deep inside Mario's subconscious, he sees Fuego in front of him, and he starts singing a Slavic-y song to convince Mario to drink water. This doesn't work, as Mario draws out a baseball bat and manages to hit a home run with Fuego, right into the sky. SMG4 is flabbergasted with how things turned out, and decides to give up, using an umbrella to fly out, Mary Poppins-style. Mario defiantly tells the fleeing SMG4 that he will continue this challenge of no water with a spaghetti diet for as long as he can, and nothing will stop him.
Five days later, at the Mario Bros' residence, Luigi wakes up one morning with a dry throat, and immediately runs up to drink some water. Mario, who is shriveled from dehydration, is awakened from sleep and angrily tells Luigi to shut up, but his dehydration starts to take effect, evident from his coughing. He jumps down to the ground, legs crunching, assuring that he is fine, but starts feeling worse. Seeing Luigi drinking the water, he tries to reach for it, only for Luigi to finish it, and throw it away, the last of their water supply. While it would make Mario's challenge easier, he gets even more worse, before his mind fully caves in to needing water. He goes to the sink, but no water is coming from the faucet, infuriating him into ripping off the sink and throwing it at Luigi, before running off to find water. He goes to a 7-Eleven, only to see it empty of drinking water. He starts convulsing in panic, until he hears a toilet flushing. He runs into the nearby bathroom and frantically tries to drink water from the flush, but the toilet is unresponsive, exploding and sending Mario flying away. He sees a Lakitu's Cloud raining nearby, and tries getting towards it, only for the Cloud to float above and zap Mario with lightning, sending him crashing down.
Mario gets up, seeing himself in front of the Showgrounds castle, and starts hallucinating as a result of his dehydration. With the world looking like an acid trip, Mario spots SMG3 walking up to him, then to his surprise, advertising his new product, Brunchly. He then shows another ingredient, Grime, a drink used in Brunchly, which gets Mario riled up. He runs up and grabs the Grime and drinks it, but it does very little to quench his thirst, making Mario sick, and he gets more shrivelly. SMG3 angrily takes back the Grime bottle, demanding Mario to pay for a drink. Mario's dehydration induced hallucinations get worse, as he sees SMG3 as some kind of wendigo-type demon, along with Saiko, Kaizo, Karen, Melony, SMG4 and Meggy. This leaves him utterly frightened, causing him to run away. Everyone looks at SMG3 in annoyance, thinking he was responsible, but he simply suggests they try out his drink, to which they sidle away from him. Meanwhile, Mario keeps running for his life, determined to get water, unable to bear the dehydration, and breaks into a private beach area, where he finds the open ocean. He then tries to lap up some water, but is stopped by a big punch to the face.
Getting up, he sees that it was a fish person, surrounded by his friends. The orange fish, their leader, calls out Mario for drinking their water, to which Mario justifies it because of his dehydration. Despite this, the fish continues deprecating Mario and all humans, because of everything they've done to earth's waters, like pollution and such, being sick of it. He summons a gigantic glass bottle, which jumps out the water and lands on the beach. He says that humans will forevermore suffer without their water, signaling his friends to drink up the entire oceans through straws, and then barf it all out into the gigantic bottle, which is then sealed with a locked cork. Because of this, Mario breaks down, calling out that the apocalypse is near, as Earth is left barren and dry. Deserts are everywhere, people are getting dehydrated, and plants are dying, forcing some like Luigi to use other drinkable liquids, like Pepsi unfortunately. SpongeBob, who is disturbingly dehydrated, sees a billboard that there will be no more underwater adventures, with his show being cancelled, leaving him very sad, causing him to commit suicide by driving his car off the road.
Mario, who is slowly dying of thirst, calls for help, and spots a billboard advertising the military's hotline, courtesy of Swag. He gets out his phone, and calls Swag, telling him what's going on. Swag however, gets annoyed by Mario's pleas for help, telling him that they too are suffering but from something worse; he and the rest of the army ate too much food and have stomach aches, which can only be cured by swallowing big pills, but they don't even have water for that, forcing them to use gasoline, which has predictable results. Swag also annoyedly says they tried calling the God Hotline, but they too are out of commission, evident by Jesus lying in bed with the rest of the army. Infuriated, Mario declares that he will have to solve things by himself, before going on the attack, taking out the fish guarding the water one by one. Or at least he thinks he is doing it, with his dreams being dehydration induced, as he aimlessly slaps one of the fishes, who punches him away. That doesn't stop Mario from trying, and his next attempt is holding one of the fish hostage over a KFC deep frier, but when he tries to make fried fish, his would be victim is immune, swimming in the grease, and invites his entourage in. Mario gets pushed in, and he gets burnt. Then, he tries to disguise himself as a fish, and walks up to their leader, but his disguise works too well, as he gets enamored by Mario, before kissing him on the nose; this causes Mario to absolutely freak out, and run away.
Mario gets angry that none of his plans to get to the water are working, and wishes to find a way. He soon spots SMG3 and Eggdog trying to sell their Grime, during these trying times without water, which gives Mario an idea. Back with the gang of fishes, they spot a cloaked figure approaching them, and are immediately on alert. Off comes the cloak, and it's Mario. He begins to advertise Grime, asking if they are tired of water, and suggests the new Grime, being made with healthy ingredients, and is endorsed by celebrities, using a shriveled SpongeBob as an example, by making him drink Grime, which kills him, though Mario keeps up the masquerade. The fishes are enamored by the Grime, and Mario catches on by offering them free samples, by throwing his bottle of Grime into the Lakitu's Cloud from earlier, which drinks the Grime, falls sick, and rains bottles of Grime more. They all grab bottles of Grime to drink, and when they do so, they come under the influence of it. The fishes hallucinate seeing Mario as a Grime bottle, with KSI imagery appearing all over the place. This causes the fishes to convulse as a result, with SMG3 looking happy that they tried out his Grime.
As for Mario, with the fishes now out of the way, he climbs up the gigantic glass bottle, up to the lock holding the cork in place. With one punch, he cracks the lock, and the bottle is open. Soon, because of the pressure the water was stored under, it all gushes out like a geyser, unintentionally causing a tsunami that wrecks havoc everywhere, leaving the city waterlogged and submerged. Watching the sun set on the damaged city, Mario gets out his bottle of water, drinks it all down, and he is successfully rehydrated. Then he hears clapping, and watched as Fuego emerges from behind, saying that Operation: Rehydration was successful, much to Mario's shock. As Fuego reveals, he was behind everything that happened; replacing the sink at Mario's house with a not working one, buying up all the drinkable water remaining at the stores, manning the Lakitu's Cloud that struck Mario with lightning, and even alerting the gang of fishes about Mario by telling them that he will steal their water; everything a part of his plan to show Mario the importance of staying hydrated, the hard way. He decides to sing some more, but Mario is pretty bummed out, and decides to end things by opening up Fuego, pouring in some Grime, which causes him to react in pain and explode, while Mario calmly walks away drinking.

- When Spongebob was commencing the Drive Sign Roasts Peter Meme, the water was seen when, at the point of the story, was dismissive. This could either be a map error or that scene was recorded beforehand.

- This is the first SMG4 episode of 2025.
- This is the thirty-second episode to turn a mundane task into chaos. The first was SMG4: Mario waits for pizza back in 2018 (7 Years Ago), and the previous was SMG4: Mario Opens a Can Of Beans. This is a well-known of trend that happens every first episode of each year.
- This is Fuego the Water Bottle’s first reappearance since SMG4: If Mario Was In... Anime back in 2021, almost 4 years ago, as well as fully voiced and became part of the plot unlike some recent reappearances of others.
- This episode was aired nine years after Castle Royale and five years after Mario Gets His PINGAS Stuck In The Door.

- SpongeBob SquarePants: The episode's thumbnail is a reference to the "I NEED IT!" meme from the episode "Tea at the Treedome", which involves SpongeBob getting dehydrated, much like Mario in this episode; he even quotes the meme when he reaches his breaking point. On another note, the fishes drinking up all the water through straws and barfing it out is very similar to what SpongeBob did in another episode, "SpongeGuard on Duty". Additionally, SpongeBob himself appears multiple times in the episode, dehydrated of course.
- Fugget About It: The first second of episode is a parody of the opening theme song with SMG4.
- Logan Paul's and KSI's products: The products that SMG3 is promoting are Grime and Brunchly, which are parodies to the real-life drink brand Prime, and Lunchly snack kits respectively (which they co-produced with MrBeast), both sharing a very similar name (and potentially taste).
- Pizza Tower: at 4:51, the slowed Noise's devilish scream is heard.
