The Mario Recolors (also known as Multi-colored Marios), as their name suggests, are a species of human characters who resemble Mario and often represent YouTubers who create Super Mario 64 Machinima although some Mario Recolors are original characters than avatars of YouTubers. They predominantly appeared as characters in the first few seasons of the series. Their exact in-universe origin is currently unknown, but it is implied to be connected to Mario himself. Some recolors are actually Merged or leaked color codes for the purpose of being background characters, but even among the most obscure recolored Mario, some were not used in the series at all.

They were revealed to have been abducted by SMG0 due to their similar appearance to Mario in the Genesis Arc and were zombified by him in order to serve as an army of minions to protect him.

Outside the series, they were made back in 2006 by YouTubers such as Megaman765 and Fleskhjerta who had their own recolors and it soon popularized them during their time. SMG4 was one of many who had their own Recolor codes back then.

Currently, most of them (except for SMG4, SMG3, X, and FM) live in Bloopersville.

Notable Mario recolors

Main/Major

SMG4/SuperMemeGuardian4

SMG4

SMG4 is one of the two main protagonists of the series. He is a partially amnesiac blue-and-white amnesiac recolor SMG who makes memes. He was first introduced in Super Mario 64 Bloopers: Account Loss and has since stayed at the castle. His character's personality would evolve years later to the point where the SMG4: SMG4's Origins episode retconned events before his official debuts. One time his model color was changed in Super Mario 64 Bloopers: тнє ριик ρяσвℓєм where Mario accidentally turned his gloves pink however that was solved at the end of the episode. He has the power to (somewhat) tame insane characters by recording them and putting them into his videos. It's revealed in the Genesis Arc that he's a Super Meme Guardian.

SMG3/SuperMemeGuardian3

SMG3

SMG3 is the former main antagonist of the series introduced in Super Mario 64 Bloopers: SMG4 VS SMG3 as a villain that copies SMG4 on YouTube. He is a partially amnesiac black-and-blue recolor SMG who's SMG4's counterpart and former arch-nemesis. He has a negative form that makes him powerful in a photo-negative color scheme, but this ability was long forgotten. His recolor has no evolution in the series and stayed the same way since he was introduced. After SMG4: Perfectly Balanced., he has come to a semi-coexistence with SMG4, with him now ruling the Internet Graveyard. Like SMG4, it's revealed in the Genesis Arc that he's a Super Meme Guardian.

Inverted Mario Clone

The "perfect clone of Mario" was born specifically from a fan request for Mario to create a clone by... beating the pacer test. The colors of his shirt, hat, and overalls are swapped from Mario's, giving the clone a blue hat and shirt and red overalls. His only purpose was to knock Mario into the moon, and the only word he knows is "twenty-one". He is currently a one-time character.

Former

Luigi

Luigi's color code

Luigi is the brother of Mario. In his earlier appearances, he was depicted with a simple palette swap of Mario with his trademark colors due to limitations. However, his GMod models properly used Luigi's models. In more recent videos, he uses a custom SM64 model that more closely resembles his canon proportions.

Wario

Wario

Wario is the rival of Mario. In his earliest appearances, he was a palette swap of Mario with his (mostly) trademark colors due to limitations. However his GMod models properly used Wario's models. In 2013 to present, he replaced the recolor model with the Mario Party 3 Wario model instead which resembles his canon proportions.

Waluigi

Waluigi

Waluigi is the rival of Luigi. In his earliest appearances, he was a palette swap of Mario in 2011 and (mostly) had his trademark colors due to limitations. However his GMod models properly used Waluigi's models. In 2013 to present, he replaced the recolor model with the Mario Party 3 Waluigi model instead which resembles his canon proportions.

Santa Claus

Santa originally debuted in Super Mario 64 Christmas Special 2011 as an Mario Recolor due to SMG4 using mainly Super Mario 64 for characters where he wore a red and white look. When Gmod was used more prominently, this was replaced with the Santa Claus Model which since replaced the old look.
