Port Aurora is an island located outside the Mushroom Kingdom. It is the main setting for Sunset Paradise, Meggy's spinoff show on Glitch Productions. It was first shown as a brochure in SMG4: Meggy's Part-Time Job. It is the first canonical setting from a Glitch Productions series, meaning that it's in the SMG4 universe.
Overview[]
Port Aurora itself is a separate country from the Mushroom Kingdom, having its own currency, and home to the Aura Boras. Currently, the island state is ravaged by high levels of crime, and the lack of enforcement is evident with Auri Bori being the only chief enforcer of law on the island. Vandalism, robbery, theft, scams and violence are common crimes on Port Aurora. It does not help that the Aura Boras, the majority ethnic group on the island, are described by Meggy as wimpy, unable to protect themselves and enforce laws.
Geography[]
Although not specified, Port Aurora is located near the Mushroom Kingdom, as the S.S. Tortle carried a small boat. Therefore, it is presumably located off the coasts of Western Europe and Western Africa (if the Mushroom Kingdom is near Europe) or in the Carribean and off the coast of Florida and the Eastern Seaboard (if the Mushroom Kingdom is near North America). It is likely that Port Aurora is in the Mediterranean, as noted with the Greek-style buildings seen in places like Santorini and Crete.
Economy[]
As an island state, it issues its own currency, called the tully (plural: tullies) which SMG4 has said is equivalent to 5 US dollars, making the tully more valuable that the US dollar.[1] However, since the island is crime-ridden, costs and prices are typically higher. Tourism is one of the main industries on the island, but the high levels of crime has greatly affected the industry to the point of decline. They also seem to have a lot of thefts, so they have defense security systems.
Local produce on the island includes apples, peaches and durians, which are imported.
Culture[]
They have a festival, which is called the Phoenix Festival where it happens once in every 100 years, when the phoenix ashes reappear in the Borealis Lighthouse, then those ashes turn into an egg that egg then hatches into a Phoenix. It is sacred to the Aura Boras.
Transport[]
As Port Aurora is an island with no visible airports, the only way in and out is by ferry. There is a ferry service connecting the island to Mushroom City, using the S.S. Tortle. And also there is a highway in Port Aurora, it was shown in Mad Meggy.
Politics[]
According to Auri, the Aura Boras pick their mayor by simply using a magic 8-ball instead of voting on who they like to be their mayor, just how every presidential campaign works in countries.
History[]
According to the Aura Boras, the legendary phoenix would be visiting the island for return every century, founding the Phoenix Festival.
The island was then under a state of violence and emergency, as social turmoil was marked by the high crime rate under the responsibility of Sir Benedict Cumbersnatch and his crime syndicate to find the phoenix ashes, until Benedict himself was cursed into an egg by sheriff Aloysius Bori, but not before murdering him. Since his curse, the island stabilized itself.
However, come to the next Phoenix Festival, the level of crime rose again, under leadership of Benedict, and went so far into raiding the sheriff's office and the overthrow of the local government. There, Benedict, as the new sheriff, proclaimed a new government in Port Aurora, with his Goonies establishing a mafia state marked with anarchy and unchecked crime. However, this did not stop the locals from standing up to them.
Thanks to Meggy and Auri, they saved the Phoenix Festival and defeated Benedict and helped the egg hatch thus stabilizing the island once more. It made a cameo in the 2021 Xmas special when Meggy made a call to Auri. This was the final appearance of Port Aurora.

Trivia[]
- Port Aurora as shown in WELCOME TO GLITCH is notably different with the exception of the lighthouse, being designed as more urban and akin to a city. Though this would later be changed in the main series as more coastal with smaller buildings.
