POV: You're Mario is the forty-first episode of Season 12 of the SMG4 series, the five hundred and eighty-eighth within the series, and the seven hundred and sixty-eighth video overall to be uploaded on the SMG4 channel.
The video was uploaded on November 5, 2022.
Synopsis[]
Mario and Meggy see what it's like being in the other's shoes for a day.
Plot[]
While Meggy was busy studying, Mario was seen breaking through the castle walls escaping a dragon. Trying to fight back, Mario tried to chop the dragon, but the dragon threw him at Meggy. Furious, Meggy threw her dumbbell she was holding towards the dragon, killing it. While she angrily asked why Mario disturbed her (as Mario replied that SMG4 made him do so for a video), Meggy asked him to be his lazy self and not disturb her studying, Mario told her that being himself is hard. While both argued that living their lives are hard, they both made a bet to be in the other's shoes until one of them gives up.
Meggy, living Mario's life, was able to save the princess, although she found it hard to act out in SMG4's videos. Mario, meanwhile, was forced to study for Meggy's exams, and unsurprisingly did not manage to study due to being stupid. They continued on, despite pressure being exerted on them. As the day draws by, Meggy's inability to help out with SMG4's videos due to being disturbed by the memes caused her to run outside to hide behind a hedge, until she was found by SMG4 and the memes. With the memes closing in on her, she was about to exclaim about giving up, until Mario interrupted her, saying that he gave up as headed towards the hedge.
Realizing that she won, she happily celebrated and showboated, but then saw that she made Mario feel insecure about himself when he thought that Meggy went through his life easily. Realizing her mistake, Meggy went up to Mario and admitted that she found his life being hard to live with, and understood why he acts the way he is, and apologized for her actions. As Mario apologized too for living her life as he was forced to live on the expectations of being successful at everything by being smart. As they both reconciled, the memes were still bothering them, until Mario dealt with them by telling Meggy to act stupid with the memes, to satisfy them. Deciding to join in too, they both chased the memes as the title "The End" shows, until it continued with the words "of you", followed by a hand arriving to grab the viewers.

Trivia[]
- The music that plays on SMG4's "anatomy video" he shows to Mario at minute 7:01, is "Unity" by TheFatRat, which is known by Latin Americans as the song of the Salvadoran YouTuber, Fernanfloo.
- The entire episode is dedicated to fourth wall breaking with making videos, as well as being based on a classic comedy theme where two people live each other's lives to show how tough it is.
- This is the first appearances of:
- Medic since SMG4: NINTENDO HAS CLAIMED THIS VIDEO.
- Walter White since Mario Reacts To Nintendo Memes 2 and in Season 12.
- Although Luigi appears on the thumbnail, he was absent in the video itself. This is the second time this happens, the first time being "SMG4: All Mario Wants Is Absolute 𝓟 𝓞 𝓦 𝓔 𝓡".
- This is the fourth episode that Paul Stylianou wasn’t apart of editing, first possibly being SMG4: Clown Fever.
- Colin Rodgers considers Donkey Kong 64 to be one of his favorite videogames, so he put as many references as possible for the episode.
- He also sees Chunky Kong as his Spiritual Animal.
- Although Meggy won the bet, it can be considered a tie as both she and Mario admitted that living each other's lives were hard.
- Meggy wears a Mario mustache and hat for the third time (second if not counting Meggy Plays Super Mario Maker 2). The first one was in SMG4: Mario's Mask Of Madness.
- It has been revealed that Meggy hasn't graduated from college yet as she is still studying to become a physical education teacher.
- However, there is no end or continuation confirmed for this topic until SMG4: All I Want For Christmas Is Mario To FREAKIN BEHAVE.
- This Is one of the few episodes where Meggy is rude to Mario because of her anger, along with a few episodes like SMG4: Doomsday but Mario is Okay and SMG4: Studying for Exams...But you're friends with Mario.
- Meggy is seen cross-eyed again. The last time was on Mario Reacts To Nintendo Memes 11 ft. Meggy.
References[]
- The Shining: Meggy breaks the door and says "Here's Meggy!", referencing the movie's iconic quote "Here's Johnny!" from this 1980 psychological horror film directed by Stanley Kubrick and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.
- The Fairly OddParents: The scene where SMG4 calls in Mario with the line "Hey, can I get an expert in here?" when Meggy messes up her part is similar to scene in the episode "Movie Magic", where Timmy has Wanda replace the Z-wing pilot with Syvester Calzone with the line "Can I get a professional in here?" after the original pilot messed up the scene when he noticed Timmy filming him.
- The Mario Course scene is a possible reference to Sprite Animator, 1 Up's "Would Be OP In Super Mario Bros." series.
- With the exception of Harambe, Walter White and Chunky Kong, many characters that participated in SMG4's filming references the latest memes from September and October, such as:
- Whitebeard references the One Piece is real meme, as well as Mario briefly going into a similar appearance to Tony Tony Chopper from the Chopper crying meme while imitating Meggy's crying.
- Medic takes a similar stature to Treasure Island's Dr. Livesey, but it's based on its 1988 animated Russian film incarnation, alongside the Dr. Livesey walk meme.
- Meggy says "You're too slow", which is an infamous quote from Sonic the Hedgehog in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
