War Of The Fat Italians 2023 is the fortieth episode of Season 13 of the SMG4 series, the six hundred and thirty-fifth within the SMG4 series, and the eight hundred and forty-sixth video overall to be uploaded on the SMG4 channel.

It is the thirteenth edition of the War of the Fat Italians. The viewers helped to decide the decisions for the heist in a fifty-one hour livestream that streamed from October 21st to October 23rd at 9am PST. This is the third show of the Puzzlevision series, as well as the finale of the third chapter of the PUZZLEVISION Saga, featuring the first physical appearance of Mr. Puzzles at the end of the episode. The video was uploaded on October 28, 2023.

Synopsis

AHHHHHHH IT'S WOTFI 2023! And we did something VERY different this year. SMG4 & SMG3 have to infiltrate Marty's casino but Mario is his bodyguard and has riddled the casino with traps! We got the fans to vote and help plan out what to do... and the choices they make affect the WOTFI and ending! LET'S SEE HOW IT ALL PLAYS OUT!

Mission Prep Livestream

From October 21 9AM PST to October 23 9am PST, SMG4 hosted a livestream where viewers voted on the outcome of each mission to determine the ending of WOTFI.

Intro

After Mario stole SMG3's notebook, SMG3 came to SMG4 at The SMG4 Castle for help getting his notebook back - he explains that it contains information on a certain igloo incident, and if it is leaked, both their reputations will be ruined. SMG4 does some research and manages to find that Mario was collaborating with Marty - the notebook was taken to Casino Paisano, and is currently locked in the vault in Marty's office on the top floor, heavily guarded - while Marty cannot open the notebook without SMG3's special key, the two decide to break in and take the notebook back before he finds another way.

With the casino heavily guarded by Mario and hired guards, SMG4 and SMG3 delve into planning. Later, SMG3 complains that he doesn't trust the viewers' decisions, and explains the purpose of their spy watches: they each have a built-in Spy Rizz meter that tracks the decisions made, going up when a correct choice is made and going down when an incorrect choice is made - if the meter ends WOTFI in the green section, they successfully retrieve the notebook, but if it ends in the red, they fail and Marty successfully unlocks the notebook.

In the present day, SMG4 and SMG3 arrive outside the casino and head inside via the red carpet, surrounded by a cheering crowd.

Mission 1: Infiltrate Casino

Choice: Scare the Fat Italian (CORRECT)

Inside the lobby, SMG4 and SMG3 find Mario standing guard, watching for spies - after he incinerates Luigi for being a suspected spy, the two decide to scare Mario with clown masks - Mario is unfazed, however, and nearly identifies SMG4's color scheme, but instead mistakes him for a giant M&M. Annoyed and impatient, SMG3 tries to shove SMG4 through, but he accidentally knocks SMG4's mask off as they go past. Mario ends up mistaking SMG4 for a clown and flees screaming in terror.

SMG4 is completely unamused, but SMG3 considers this good enough to count as a success, and the two of them head into the ground floor.

Result: Cool!

Mission 2: Disable Security Cameras

Choice: Hack the cameras with SMG4's epic hacking skills (INCORRECT)

Inside the casino, SMG4 and SMG3 both find security cameras rigged all across the room - Mario, having fled to the guard room after he was scared, is surveying them intensely for any clowns. SMG4 finds the casino's main server out in the open and attempts to hack it with his spy watch, but he accidentally broadcasts a video of Luke Lerdwichagul dancing to the entire room, alerting the guards to his position.

The guards all jump SMG4 and set off the alarm, alerting Mario. He sees the crowd of guards and orders them to move aside, but before he can identify SMG4, SMG3 manages to hijack the cameras and scares Mario as the Watermelon Man - Mario, in his panic, accidentally self-destructs all the cameras, and the guards run away screaming. SMG4 thanks SMG3 for saving him, and they continue.

Result: Bad

Mission 3: Win the Jackpot

Choice: Make SMG3 rig a casino game (CORRECT)

SMG3 and SMG4 can't easily access the V.I.P room, for Bob only allows V.I.Ps- i.e rich people. The two decide to win enough money to be allowed, however, SMG3 informs SMG4 that casinos are rigged so they'll lose. After a bit of thought, SMG3 concocts a plan: he strolls over to Saiko and Boopkins' lucky roulette game and places a bet on number seven, and he starts shaking the table, pretending that there's an earthquake happening. The ball bounces uncontrollably around the casino and straight in Boopkins' mouth, causing him to start choking. SMG4 does the Heimlich maneuver on him, and SMG3 has the idea to have SMG4 aim for the number seven on the roulette. SMG4 fortunately nails the shot, and the meme guardians win the game, much to Boopkins' agony. The two win so much money that an enamored Bob allows them to pass through unimpeded.

Result: Nice!

Mission 4: Bypass V.I.P Room

Choice: GUESS IMA GO FISHING (INCORRECT)

Rob is thrown out by Swagmaster for losing his corn pile in a card game to Steve, so SMG3 decides to access the CEO's office in an all-or-nothing bet by guessing which exact card Steve has in his hand (something Chris questions the logic of, but Swag tells him to just let it happen since there's no way they'll win). SMG3 calls Steve for having an Eight of Spades, but unfortunately, Steve has a King of Hearts in his hand instead, causing SMG3 to lose his bet. Right at that moment, SMG4 comes in with the Eight of Spades card, claiming he was ready to sneakily put it in Steve's hand, but found out he was too late due to his poor timing. Both Swag and Chris laugh at the meme guardians' failed attempt to get past them, and to make matters worse, Chris informs Mario of the two intruders, and the plumber orders their capture. Soon Chris and Swag take the two to the CEO's office... at gunpoint.

Result: Oof

Mission 5: Escape Custody!!

Choice: Use tear gas (INCORRECT)

Now at death's door, the two consult each other on what to do on Discord, and coming to the same conclusion, the meme guardians spray Swag and Chris with tear gas, causing them to start suffocating and to start shooting in random directions around the elevator. While this went swimmingly at first, the meme guardians quickly realize that there aren't any windows (and by extension, escape options) in the elevator, causing them to also start suffocating as well, with SMG4 questioning how they failed to think their plan through. As the tear gas clears away, Swag and Chris stop shooting, with Swag mentioning that it was a good thing that World War II has made them immune to tear gas.

Result: Bad

Mission 6: GOING DOWN!!

Choice: BLJ outta there! (INCORRECT)

Unfortunately, the Guards' reckless shooting damaged the elevator's control pad, which sends all four of them tumbling down. In a desperate attempt to get out of the elevator, SMG4 tries to use Mario's BLJ technique, having seen Mario do it at least a hundred times beforehand, but ends up failing miserably, much to SMG3's annoyance. Swag, thinking the idea was smart, joins him, but his own attempts yield similar results, much to Chris' annoyance. The elevator crashes, knocking all four of them out. Some time later, the meme guardians wake up to the sight of Mario.

Result: Rip

Mission 7: The Interrogation/Help Mario interrogate SMG3

Choice: Show him cringe memes (SUPER INCORRECT CHOICE FOR US, SUPER CORRECT CHOICE FOR MARIO)

Mario and Marty now have the two captured and at their mercy in a torture room. Mario demands the key, but SMG3 defiantly refuses, so Mario hijacks the mission for himself and tortures him with a variety of cringe memes. Despite his best efforts, SMG3 starts cracking. After looking at an extremely cringe comic meme, he screams in agony, delighting the plumber with the sounds of screaming.

Result: Mario Rizz: Pingas, Spy Rizz: Cringe

Mission 8: Save SMG3

Choice: Use Eggdog (CORRECT)

Luckily, SMG4 breaks free of his restraints by recalling another cringey meme before rushing over to confront Mario just as SMG3 finally cracks... sending Eggdog into a Pokémon battle against Mario. Mario is about to smash SMG3's legs (dubbed as the super effective move "Torture"), but seeing his master in danger, Eggdog gets angry, increasing his Angy Level, and "evolves" into EggTank. With this power, EggTank blasts Mario away in a single blow. SMG4 frees his partner and they run into another room. Mario is about to pursue them, but Marty isn't worried; they apparently went into "that" room.

Result: Big Brain

Mission 9: BUY MARTY MERCH!!!

MONEY TO WASTE: $218,850 ("Correct" choice)

The two begin buying as much Marty merch as they can until Mario tries attacking them with a chainsaw, at which point he is hit by a ball with Marty's face on it, shot from a speaker on the wall. Luckily for them, Mario is apparently unable to harm shoppers in the store. Once they figure that out, the meme guardians start dancing and teasing Mario, until the speaker asks if they are going to buy more merch, because they will resume hostilities if they stop. After SMG3 and SMG4 hurriedly reply that they will, the speaker asks them if they are interested in the Marty Bugatti. After they accept, the speaker tells them that will be $12,000,000. SMG3 exclaims that they don't have that kind of money, leading to the speaker telling Mario to destroy the two, much to the plumber's pleasure.

Mission 10: GAMESHOW TIME!

Choice: Not sure, let's look it up! (CORRECT)

The meme guardians proceed to steal the Marty Bugatti in an attempt to escape, but crash into the wall, revealing Shroomy as the host of... Marty's Super Awesome Mega Spicy & Cool Game Show Adventure! The meme guardians try to leave, but an army of cardboard cutouts of Marty point guns at them, forcing them to play (and Mario was forced to play too, much to his disapproval). Shroomy exclaims that if they get this answer correct they win. Shroomy then asks the question: "What happened at exactly 6:50 in the classic SMG4 episode, "SNOWTRAPPED"?" Because they aren't sure themselves, SMG4 and SMG3 pull out their phones and look at the episode at the exact timestamp, as a series of moans, groans and grunts emit from their phones, the two are so disgusted their heads catch fire as they scream in pain and collapse. Shroomy then says that screaming in pain was the correct answer, and that the meme guardians won a pair of Marty themed ball hats.

Result: Cool!

Mission 11: Vent maze

Choice: Left (CORRECT)

SMG3 quickly throws the hat he was given at Mario, Super Mario Odyssey-style, and beheading him (with Mario angrily questioning who would throw a hat). With Mario temporarily preoccupied, SMG3 and SMG4 dive into the vents from the gameshow set, as SMG3 is ecstatic from hearing they could get to Marty's office from the vents. They hear a very slow "oooooooohhhhh... Very scary!" from Mario, as he appears infront of them at a crossroads, holding a katana. The two dart off to the side as Mario disfigures himself and begins chasing SMG4 and SMG3. They get stuck at a fork in the road, where SMG3 shouts to go left. They both run the to left as Mario follows pursuit. As the plumber gains on them, SMG4 sees Depresso the clown in the distance talking to a dead rat. They ask him what he's doing, as he replies he's doing a comedy show in the vents as they didn't want him in the casino, and he even has an audience (referring to the dead rat, which both SMG3 and SMG4 deem to be accurate). SMG3 tells him that Mario would love to hear his routine, to Depresso's excitement. The clown stops Mario dead in his track and begins telling him a series of dad jokes, which Mario does not find the funny to. He quickly gets bored, grabs a shotgun and removes the clown from his path. The camera cuts back to SMG3 and SMG4, hurrying for the exit, and they break through the vent to the hall right outside Marty's office.

Result: Nice!

Mission 12: FIGHT MARIO AND GET THE KEYS!

Choice: Tell Mario he's stinky (CORRECT)

The two board up the vent grate as SMG3 runs to the door, finding that it's locked. SMG3 and SMG4 begin panicking as Mario is trying to break down the boards. Finding that the door doesn't budge, and remembering that this is Mario who they're dealing with right now, the meme guardians prepare to fight Mario instead of continuing to run away from him. Mario then busts down the boards and lands in a boxing ring, very confused. SMG4 is in the other corner as SMG3 is rubbing his shoulder, the pair giving him a death glare. SMG4 exclaims that Mario's a** is stinky. As multiple dumbfounded looks are given from the casino members. Mario says that that's just weird before SMG4 gives him a surprise punch, starting a Punch Out! reference as SMG4 beats Mario, when he throws his gloves off and throws a punch at SMG4, when he beats Mario with scissors paper rock. Mario is so shocked that he flies back and hits the door, being knocked out cold in the process. With Mario unconscious, the meme guardians steal the key to Marty's office and open the door.

Result: Nice!

Mission 13: The CEO's Office

Choice: Make SMG3 do a lil bit of trolling (INCORRECT?)

The door is opened, revealing the vault. SMG3 tries to go forward but SMG4 stops him, blowing a cloud of Baby Powder at the vault door, revealing enough lasers to practically cover every possible place in the room. When thinking of a plan to get past the lasers, SMG3's trolling nature kicks in and he gets the idea to throw Mario into the lasers as alarms go off and the safe becomes triple locked (to which SMG3 realized he should have expected this would happen). Mario wakes up and starts getting blasted by bullets from the various turrets around the room. SMG4 and SMG3 run through to get to the door and begin hacking it using SMG3's spy watch, which would take some time to hack through, but SMG3 mentions that they at least have some entertainment while they wait (said entertainment being Mario's current predicament). The lights suddenly go out, and Marty appears in the hallway outside his office as the lights go red. While SMG4 is now nervous, not aided by Mario informing the meme guardians that they're screwed now, SMG3 isn't worried, since Marty is a cardboard cutout and couldn't do much. However, to his shock, Marty begins inching closer through the intervals of the now flickering lights. Seeing this and realizing Marty might actually be able to do something, SMG3 starts panicking himself. At the rate the hacking is going, Marty will surely reach the meme guardians before they can complete the hacking process.

Result: Not Cool

Mission 14: Open The Vault

Choice: Give SMG4 a HEAVY weapon (CORRECT)

Remembering the fans gave him something special to deal with Marty, SMG4 gets a present out and opens it, revealing the "special thing to deal with Marty" was a tiny Heavy, much to the meme guardians' disappointment. SMG4 throws the tiny Heavy at Marty's feet, and after stating he was going to keel Marty... with music, Heavy starts dancing. Seeing this, Mario jumps over, states the meme is spicy, and starts happily dancing with the meme and then slips, tackling Marty and stunning both of them. This ends up buying enough time for SMG3 to finish hacking the vault door, so it opens and the meme guardians head inside.

Result: Big Brain

Mission 15: Dealing with the boss!

Choice: Use the power of MEMES (SUPER CORRECT)

SMG3 and SMG4 enter the vault, seeing heaps of treasure and gold. Then, in the center of it all, they spot SMG3's notebook, being drilled at by three giant sharp drills. SMG3 tries to go and grab the book, but Mario, who along with Marty is now in a giant mech suit dubbed "Mecha-Marty", jumps in front of SMG3 and kicks him away. The meme guardians hide behind some gold stacks to avoid the bullet barrage being thrown at them, and SMG3 uses his marketable plushie to fight back at the mech, as it stumbles back and jams the drills, stopping them from opening the book. The two start advancing before Mario gets a giant golden Marty cutout and throws it at them. This of course knocks them back, including the SMG3 plushie, which gets knocked out of SMG3’s hands and explodes along with the golden Marty cutout. Taking shelter behind a crate of treasures, SMG3 suggest that they use the secret weapon. Using a “fusion” technique, they summon a Club Penguin avatar. SMG3 is bewildered, and SMG4 claims that they should have practiced the move more, but Mario reacts with panic and starts shooting at the Club Penguin avatar, but all of the bullets miss. The Club Penguin avatar dances, then poofs out of existence, causing Mario to tear up and remember when he first started getting into Club Penguin. In the heartfelt moment, SMG3 sneaks up and puts a stick of dynamite in the robot's backside, where Mario can't reach it. The mech explodes as the meme guardians reach the notebook and reclaim it. But as soon as they do that, alarms begin to sound as the rap battle initiates.

Rap Battle (Roll The Die)

Note that Meggy does not actually appear on-screen during the rap battle, and her subtitles are black and white in the Mario font rather than her usual black and orange Splatoon font (though the credits still identify her as Meggy).

Mario and Marty are placed in prison (presumably for theft) and Mario asks about how Marty would even know SMG3 had his special recipe in his notebook. A flashback reveals that Marty received an incoming fax with a familiar symbol of the TV Adware on it, holding a picture of the notebook with text saying "Ultimate pizza recipe inside". The flashback ends and Shroomy comes over, about to host another game show, this time it's "Life Sentence Prison Edition".

It then cuts to SMG4 holding a newspaper up to SMG3 titled: "Paisano Perps Put in Prison!" as SMG3 holds and kisses his notebook, getting flustered by noticing SMG4 standing right next to him. SMG4 thanks us (the fans) for making the right choices for the heist. SMG3 then reveals his reward for us, and announces that he'll be building his own coffee shop/evil lair next to the castle, moving in closer to his friends and out of the Internet Graveyard. The site has a bunch of bombs around it, which reveals the name: "III's Coffee N' Bombs" As we're shown a black and white concept art of the final product. He gets flustered yet again as SMG4 claims he wants to move closer to his friends.

The two sit on a wood board and have some coffee, and SMG3 decides to pull out his journal, drawing a picture of him and SMG4. SMG4 curious, asks SMG3 what he’s doing, to which SMG3 responds, “I’ll never tell!” The camera switches to a view of the two drinking their coffee in the distance, and a TV filter is suddenly applied, which shows it was played on a TV and we see the physical appearance of Mr. Puzzles, applauding the show he witnessed before exclaiming: "Good choices! We should do this again sometime." Then the video ends, hinting there will be another one of these.

SMG4: SMG4 KIDS	September 23, 2023	Beeg SMG4 stole SMG3's Sussy Notebook, and SMG4 took it just for finding secrets in it. SMG4 probably gave back the notebook though off-camera, or SMG3 took it back after the events of the video.
SMG4: SMG4 & SMG3 Are Forced To Hold Hands	October 7, 2023	In this episode, it appears that Mario is rather displeased with his Club Penguin skin, and in the WOTFI's rap, it is revealed that one of Mario's reasons for taking SMG3's Sussy Notebook is stealing SMG3's Club Penguin skin. SMG3's Sussy Notebook had been taken by Mario during the obstacle course that SMG1 and SMG2 created. However, SMG3 took back the notebook after completing the obstacle course with his hand getting stuck with SMG4. This is the second time that the notebook got stolen.
SMG4: Trust No One	October 14, 2023	SMG3's Sussy Notebook gets stolen yet again, with Mario being the perpetrator. After escaping SMG3 and SMG4, he brought the notebook to his "king". SMG4 is forklift certified.
You're going to help me... [WOTFI 2023 TRAILER]	October 18, 2023	The location of the notebook is revealed: Casino Paisano. Mario's "King" is revealed to be Marty.
CHOOSE WOTFI'S FATE! - THE MISSION PREP LIVESTREAM	October 21, 2023	SMG3 and SMG4 prepares a plan for the heist on Casino Paisano in order to recover SMG3's Sussy Notebook, with the help of the SMG4 fans.

  • The first WOTFI to be dubbed in another language. In this case it is Spanish (Latin America).

  • The first WOTFI to not physically feature Meggy Spletzer, Tari, or Melony at all. (Not counting from WOTFI 2011 to WOTFI 2016 because were released before their respective debuts.)
    • However, Meggy's VA sings the chorus in the rap battle, makes a cameo on the thumbnail of a nursery rhyme video titled SMG4 Family Finger Nursery rhymes for kids, and appears in her "Leggy" form from SMG4: You Made Mario Do This.

  • It can also be faintly heard in the background when Mr. Puzzles’ physical appearance is revealed.
• In the streaming platforms version of Roll The Die, there is a 10 seconds outro that wasn't featured in the episode, and seems to be different to the overall theme of the song in terms of instrumental.
