Season 9 is the ninth season of SMG4 Series and the last season of the 2010s decade. This season premiered on January 19, 2019 and concluded on December 28, 2019.

Overview

In this season, the axolotl manga artist Axol makes his debut, as one of the central characters of the first arc of the season, The Anime Arc. It also marks the debut of Greg The Alien, an alien who Mario befriended and rescued from Area 51.

This season holds the The Anime Arc, which spanned from March to June, and even features the first killing offs of major characters, in where Desti and Francis were written off, which then results in the permanent redesign of Meggy Spletzer (though she still retained her Inkling voice up until Season 10).

This season also introduced a two-parter, for the first time since the Seaside Stupidity episodes from Season 6. In this two-parter, Mario, Fishy Boopkins, Bob Bobowski and Axol embark on a quest to find the Lost City of Gold in the episodes SMG4: Treasure Hunt With The Bois and SMG4: Mario and The Lost City..., in a parody of the film The Road to El Dorado.

After SMG4: Super Challenge 64, SMG4 stopped using SM64 backgrounds of Peach's Castle and Mario's House for his next videos replaced by their Gmod maps with SMG4: If Mario Was Smart, SMG4: Deleted and SMG4: If Mario Was In Meta Runner as examples.

• This is the first season where SMG4 would have voice lines, provided by the creator, Luke Lerdwichagul himself.
• This is currently the season where Meggy Spletzer, Chris Gordman and Swagmaster69696969696 appear the most after their respective debuts.
  • This is also the season where SMG4’s YouTube friends appear the least, appearing twice in SMG4: 3 MILLION SUB FAN COLLABORATION! and SMG4: War Of The Fat Italians 2019.
• Like Peach in Season 8, as far as major Mario characters go, this is the season where Waluigi and the Teletubbies appears the least, only appearing between four- nine times with around only three major roles.
  • While their appearances have been rare, Bowser, Wario, Peach, and Toad have fared a little better, appearing around thirteen-fifteen bloopers and having more speaking roles. Bowser has more speaking roles than non-speaking cameos and also has more major roles at the end of this season.
    • Of the videos Wario and Toad appear in, they only speak in eight videos each, with SMG4: Sans's First Day In Smash Bros merely being voice clips and no written dialogue.
  • Steve gained slightly more prominence as well.
• Excluding Peach's Castle, SMG4: Mario Goes to the Fridge to Get a Glass Of Milk, SMG4: Mario Gets Stuck On An Island, SMG4: Super Challenge 64, SMG4: 3 MILLION SUB FAN COLLABORATION! and SMG4: Smart Mario are the only bloopers that used Super Mario 64 maps. All other videos solely use Garry's Mod maps.
