The Splat Squad was a group of Inklings as of SMG4: If Mario Was In... Splatoon. They were rivals to The Ink Brigade, but this rivalry has later been turned on to the Octoposse.

It was revealed in SMG4: Meggy's Bootcamp that Kenji and Sam have left the team, with Luigi and Tari replacing them (Heavy Squid was replaced by Mario after he accidentally killed him), making it a group of humans instead upon Meggy's change of appearance from an Inkling to a human after the events of SMG4: Final Hours.

The Splat Squad will appear in the upcoming film of Meggy's Destiny: An SMG4 Movie where Meggy and her team play against the Team Killer Ink and complete the final splatfest in Desti's memory.
