Plot
Mario accidentally stops time
Mario watches a pendulum on a pendulum clock swing back and forth in the room for the Tick Tock Clock level, though he thinks it to be a lollipop, and demands it to move faster. Mario repeatedly punches the clock, causing it to freeze in place, and he thinks he has done something bad as a result of stopping the clock. He tries punching it again for it to restart, only for it to refuse, and Mario decides to leave to visit Bob-omb Battlefield to see the effects of stopping time.
Mario lands on the ground aggressively, leaving him with half his health, and he goes to investigate the level. He jumps up from the start of the level to the ground containing the Goombas and the log stumps and investigates above there as well, seeing that the Goombas have frozen along with everything else. He tries to call for the inactive Goomba to yield a response, but gains nothing and goes further into the level to pick up one of the stone cubes, time stopping causing it to duplicate. Mario approaches King Bob-omb's mountain by flying up to it and finds that King Bob-omb is missing for an unknown reason. After his investigation, Mario realizes that he is "the only mustached man to be moving", and tells himself to answer his own question by urging his brain to work, only recalling that he actually doesn't have one. Mario believes Bowser to be the culprit of the situation, jumping off the mountain and directly into Bowser's level to accuse him, only to find that he is frozen too, though his eyes still move. Now lacking the one lead who he believes to be the cause, Mario becomes clueless and remarks that Bowser can be a plausible trophy or Halloween costume. Mario wonders who can fix his situation. After a long period, Mario comes to a conclusion.
Mario tells Peach to stand still if she isn't frozen, which is a logical contradiction, and he decides to still discuss something with her despite obviously being frozen. He demands Peach to use her "magic powers" to make time go in motion again, and instead thinks that she's asleep, annoyed by her lack of cooperation despite universally being trapped in one position. Mario tries to throw Peach into the moat, only for time being frozen to prevent him from doing so, and he is annoyed by his inability to abuse. Mario makes a joke comment about how he would win if he played freeze tag against the Earth. He decides to stay frozen himself, and immediately decides that it's too hard, giving up and deiciding to play around with his frozen abilities.
Mario plays the Big Penguin Race mission by himself, and while trying to skip a corner during the race, Mario ends up falling all the way down into the abyss. He moves through to Lethal Lava Land, and finds that there isn't a challenge without everything trying to attack him all at once, though the lava still works the same way. Mario also visits the game's epilogue, finding that Peach physically can't move to kiss him, disappointing him and causing him to feel like a loner. Mario returns back into the castle to see an inanimate Toad, finding that he misses Toad's snarky comments towards him. He then visits Big Boo's Haunt and finds out that he misses the views he had from within, and finally decies to somehow find a way to fix it. Scrolling through time-related things, Mario first concludes that YouTube itself may help him, but dismisses the thought and comes to another possible solution.
Trying to fix time
Mario visits the castle roof to ask Yoshi for the time, finding that he doesn't even have a watch, and giving up on his first idea. Mario visits the Wet-Dry World room and remarks that his head hurts from thinking, recommending Toad has a staring contest with him, and he deems Toad the winner due to being frozen in a position that allows him to constantly stare. In the castle foyer, Mario asks Toad for help, and Toad, who is also now bouncing up and down as usual, tells Mario that he can because he's supposed to be frozen. Mario accepts this and immediately realizes that Toad just said something in animation, and then turns back around to see that Toad is frozen like he is expected to be. He is then confused by the sudden communication and motion, and dismisses the thought when Toad doesn't show any evidence. Mario revisits the Tick Tock Clock room having given up, and a voice suddenly appears to inform Mario of how he is really supposed to fix time that introduces itself as the Strategy Guide. The Strategy Guide tells Mario to investigate the clock, telling Mario the answer was obvious and calling him a "stupid Italian" as a result of its anger. Mario obliviously asks what relevance a clock has to time, and the Strategy Guide demands Mario to visit the clock. Mario obeys and enters the clock, leading him to the Tick Tock Clock world. He lands on one of the clock hands, and questions where he is, then looking down to see the clock has multiple mechanisms. Mario wonders why it has so many as he believes clocks are run by magic, and then goes to remedy the time issue. Mario sees a mushroom trapped within the shaft, and dislodges it by punching, finally making time move again. Mario celebrates his success, having eliminated the "hack", and ends up somersaulting off the clock hand as he praises himself for his efforts, landing on a platform below. Mario jumps all the way down to the bottom of the level to leave, having accomplished the task.
Mario celebrates that everything is normal again as he proclaims that he is also hungry due to the work he had to go through to complete the task, and then starts running around in a circle when he celebrates his efforts, crashing into the pendulum and stopping it again. Mario tries to escape responsibility by leaving the room and he thanks the viewers for watching the video.

Trivia
- Mario revealed that he has no brain, which may explain how "retarded" he is.
- Bowser and Peach blink because the Gameshark Code doesn't disable the texture animations. This is probably a separate run of code not affected by what was making everything frozen.
- The Strategy Guide was probably part of Mario's imagination because it actually could talk while everything but Mario was frozen.
- When Mario ran up and found the King was not there, this could've actually been because the game thinks Mario is at the starting area and hasn't loaded the King yet to save memory.
