Super Mario Christmas 2016: Naughty or Nice is SMG4's special video for Christmas 2016. In this video, Mario is trying to find ways to be good again, or otherwise he will get something much worse.
Synopsis
Tired of never getting presents from Santa due to doing awful things, Mario tries to redeem himself by doing good things and win his approval. However, no matter how many people he helps, nothing goes his way.
Plot
The story starts on the day before Christmas Morning, in the small shack in Cool Cool Mountain. Everyone is looking forward to getting their Christmas presents, with Mario only caring about getting presents. Bored, Mario kicks a ladder Luigi uses to hang up stockings, causing Luigi to fall and SMG4 getting mad at him. Peach informs Mario that he has been very naughty this year, which Mario denies. He calls Santa Claus and asks him if he's on the nice list, to which Santa says no.
Mario decides he needs to do many nice things in order to convince Santa to get him on the nice list anyway, so he starts helping people. However, he messes everything up, as to be expected. He first sees that Toad wants lots of candy for Christmas. He feeds Toad way too much candy, causing his head to explode.
Mario then attempts to help SMG4 decorate the tree by raising him, but it's not high enough, causing Mario to throw Glitchy through the roof. Mario goes outside and attempts to rescue the baby of the penguin in Cool Cool Mountain, who Mario criticizes for losing her baby again. He climbs up the mountain and sleds down on top of the baby penguin. After a big jump, Mario does some stunts and celebrates reaching the other side. However, the baby penguin falls off the mountain. Mario gives the mother a potato with a duck beak as a substitute, which Mario sees as succeeding. He exits the Cool Cool Mountain painting and sees Wario and Waluigi about to completely rob the castle, which Waluigi admits.
Wario punches his partner and lies to Mario, saying they're gathering stuff for poor children in Africa. Mario, believing Wario, not only helps them steal all the stuff in the castle but also the entire castle itself. Wario and Waluigi are very grateful, but Toadsworth is horrified. Mario then helps a homeless Steve build a nice house, and he sort of succeeds. He brought a Creeper in the house, however, believing it to be a Christmas tree. The Creeper blows up and destroys Steve's new house. Steve punches Mario in anger and walks off. Mario yet again calls Santa to see if he is on the nice list, to which Santa still replies no. Santa teaches Mario Christmas isn't about being a good person one day, but rather being a good person at heart.
He gets interrupted by some deer pooping on his carpet and hangs up. A frustrated Mario decides he has to help the entire world in order to convince Santa. Mario throws an old man at a poor child who wanted his father back, throws an ATM at a homeless man in need of money and sings Silent Night for a man, who enjoys his song at first, but his house is set on fire after Mario sings a horrible remix. On Christmas morning, everyone got presents, except for Mario, who is stuck with a tremendous amount of coal. Mario is devastated, but Peach cheers him up by saying that Christmas isn't about the presents, but rather spending time with the people you love. She also tells that it isn't about being a total douche or dumbass the entire time. Santa Claus crashes into the building with his sleigh, informing he's done with work early, and parties with the crew. SMG4 closes off the episode, narrating the important lesson Mario had learned and hoping the viewers enjoyed the video.
