It wasn't confirmed by the creators that Fancis got killed in the explosion, so should we put him as unknown? And anyway, wouldn't his "Death" be erased after SMG3 removed the existence of meggy?

It's for the ease of categorization. Even if he did survive, he would be severally drained and damaged. As for the timeline resetting, we don't make any changes based off that for now.
