The Gaslight District is an upcoming Australian-Canadian computer-animated action crime web series created by Canadian animator Nick Szopko and produced by Glitch Productions for GLITCH. It is the fifth animated series by Glitch Productions, following The Amazing Digital Circus.

Synopsis[]

The Gaslight District is an action crime drama that takes place after the end of the world and centers around a group of undead gangsters that fight for control over what's left of it on an island pulled from the sea filled to the brim with immortal criminals and gangsters. The denizens of this land have been cursed by god, abandoned, left to rot, fester, scab, and peel for all of eternity.[1]

Trivia[]

  • This is the third GLITCH show to be led by a non-Austrailian showrunner (as Nick Szopko is Canadian). The first being American showrunner, Liam Vickers, and the second being American showrunner, Gooseworx.
  • The narration for the teaser was provided by Taher Chy.[4]
  • According to GLITCHX 2023, Luke and Kevin explained they'd stumbled upon the teaser of the show and asked Nick if he wanted to join Glitch to pitch his show, to which he obliged and accepted.
  • The show utilizes 3D computer animation that emulates the look of traditional cel-shaded animation. The look was developed by Nick Szopko, and can be found in much of his other works such as his Walkman project.
