Plot[]
The trailer begins with Axol at his apartment drawing a manga of him and Melony. Everything seemed normal. This was before Axol began to glitch and realised something was wrong, leading the whole room to spin and to him falling out of his chair and through the floor into the darkness below, transforming into his corrupted form, and as soon as everything goes black, Niles's eye appears.
This leads into an animated recreation of the end of SMG4: MARIOS OKAY, where the SMGs escape from SMG3's Guardian Pod, only to find themselves back at Peach's Castle where Ax0l awaits atop of the castle with all the USBs gathered. Meanwhile, Mario is left unconscious, floating in the air. Continuing on from the events of the latest episode, Axol turns to them, jumps down from the castle and begins to twitch repeatedly, mutating further into a more corrupted form, far more disturbing than the last, having began turning purple, losing textures and gaining Eldritch Zero's red eye, this second stage of his possessed form closely resembling Eldritch Zero's true form as revealed in SMG4: The Day HE Arrived., much to the horror of the four SMGs. Eventually, he does a devilish chuckle as the camera zooms in on his corrupted red eye, with flames burning. The trailer then shows the logo for WOTFI 2021 along with its release date of September 18.

- Axol was transformed further in the trailer, now sporting a much more glitched appearance and further resembling SMG0's true form, even having his eye.
- The scene where Axol jumps off the castle and transforms into his second eldritch form is actually non-canonical, as in SMG4: The Final Piece, Axol transforms into his second eldritch form on the castle and behind a mist of smoke after being attacked by Swagmaster
- The manga of Axol and Melony is first seen in SMG4: The Day HE Arrived..
- This trailer and the logo for this WOTFI suggests that for the first time in the series' history, Mario won't be competing due to him being unconscious. Instead, it suggests the four SMGs will be competing.
- Additionally, SMG4 and SMG3's models from the logo for WOTFI 2020 are shown again.
- However, SMG4: The Final Piece shows the whole gang together, implying that they will all be competing, or that they'll probably be helping them in the challenges, with SMG1 and SMG2 helping a random member of the gang. It is also unknown if Shroomy will appear during WOTFI 2021, since he was vaguely absent during majority of the arc (apart from appearing in SMG4 Movie: 10 Year Anniversary Special and at the end of SMG4: The Day HE Arrived.).
- This trailer is a combination of a slightly altered scene from SMG4: The Day HE Arrived. and the end of SMG4: MARIOS OKAY mixed together with a non-canonical scene of Axol transforming.
- The music that plays in the scene before Eldritch Axol starts mutating is from SMG4: Mario and The Backrooms when Mario and SMG4 flashback to when they encountered all of Axol's warnings.
- After the trailer was released, the channel banner was updated to have SMG4, SMG3, SMG2, and Mario heading towards Niles to save Axol, who has changed into the second stage of his corrupted form while standing straight in front view, with SMG0's tendrils covering even more of the right side of the banner.
- Ax0l's render on the thumbnail is taken from a community post released on August 31, announcing WOTFI 2021's upcoming arrival.
